Adorable 9-Year-Old Bird Lover Shows Off His Impressive Knowledge Of Ornithology

This clip is part of HuffPost Live's "Tell Me Why" series, featuring young enthusiasts discussing the subjects they're passionate about -- from horror movies to string theory -- with experts.

Connor Farquhar is only 9 years old, but with his keen understanding of everything there is to know about birds, he's already well on his way to becoming a master of ornithology.

The bird expert joined HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps to chat about his favorite animal and share some of the most interesting bird facts he's collected, including what he learned during a recent birdwatching trip to Tobago.

Connor had tons to say about birds, but perhaps his most practical words of wisdom came when he answered a viewer's question about how to keep seagulls from attacking a beach picnic.

"If you have a beach umbrella, it'll cause them not to actually land on your blanket. They'll have to avoid the umbrella and land a few feet away, and by the time you notice them landing, you can move all your picnic gear," he said matter-of-factly.
