Cynthia Nixon's comments about her love life might have ignited a media firestorm this week, but now, more upbeat news about the "Sex and the City" star is making headlines.
Gene Robinson, the openly gay clergyman profiled in the new documentary "Love Free Or Die," has revealed exclusively to Queerty that he'll be officiating Nixon's wedding to education activist Christine Marinoni this May.
"I've been invited by Cynthia and her partner to officiate at their ceremony over Memorial Day weekend," Robinson told the site. "It's going to be my great pleasure to be there and to be a part of that celebration." He did not reveal anything further about the nuptials.
Queerty bloggers asked for Robinson's opinion on Nixon's controversial interview with The New York Times magazine, in which the actress stated that being gay was "a choice." His answer was characteristically diplomatic: "Well, I've never used that argument or said 'We didn’t choose to be this way.' Because, let's say if they find out there is no genetics involved? Why should it matter, really, whether we choose it or not?"
Prior to her relationship with Marinoni, Nixon was involved with English professor Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children. She is currently earning raves for her Broadway turn as a cancer patient in the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama "Wit."
Robinson also noted, "I think we go down a terrible road when we pin all of our arguments on the choice issue. One of the freedoms God gives us is the freedom to love whom we will, and then to love that person with all that we have. I think choice has very little to do with it."
