Cyrus Restaurant Sues Landlord Hotel Les Mars

Michelin-Starred Restaurant Sues Landlord After Eviction Notice, Slander

After nine months of a highly publicized battle, Healdsburg's two-star Michelin restaurant, Cyrus, has slammed new landlord Hotel Les Mars with an 18-page complaint for damages, accusing the hotel of everything from breach of covenant of quiet enjoyment to trade slander and civil conspiracy.

As Grub Street San Francisco reports, Hotel Les Mars owners Bill Foley and David Fink purchased the property in October and suggested that Cyrus open its doors to the hotel lobby and provide room service for guests. Fearing little to gain from the arrangement, Cyrus declined.

According to Cyrus in the report, Foley and Fink then came after the restaurant with eviction notices, an unlawful demand for a $22,800 security deposit, and more than $10,000 worth of water and sewage bills allegedly racked up by the hotel. The document continues, claiming the hotel urged guests to cancel dinner reservations at the restaurant and contacted Cyrus investors to slander the restaurant.

Details of the suit are yet to come, but rumors of the feud are surely heating up the Healdsburg kitchen.
