A panicked Quincy, Massachusetts, dad called 911 Wednesday in desperation after he realized he accidentally left his daughter in the back seat of his SUV.
"I left my 1-year-old baby in my SUV this morning by accident," the dad said in the 911 call sent to The Huffington Post by Quincy Police Capt. John Duggan.
The father, whose name was not released by police, said he drove his Saturn Vue to the North Quincy train station parking lot at around 7:45 in the morning. He got out and caught his train to work in Cambridge -- only to realize at about 8:20 a.m. that his daughter was still in the car.
"We have help on the way," the operator told the dad.
"I’ll meet them there as soon as I can," the dad responded. Authorities found the child safe in the car.
"The baby had fallen asleep in the child seat and I went into auto pilot," the dad said in a statement sent to CBS Boston. "I had what I thought was a safe-guard procedure against this in place that I neglected to use today. Obviously, we will be doing more to prevent this going forward."
The father did not immediately return a request for comment from The Huffington Post.
Duggan told CBS Boston that the dad will not face any criminal charges.
