A big-hearted father went the extra mile to take his daughter trick-or-treating while they were traveling on an airplane.
The generous dad gave candy to every other passenger on board the Virgin America flight from Boston to San Francisco and asked them in a note to hand it out to his little girl as she walked down the aisle.
“My 3-year-old daughter, Molly, was bummed that she wouldn’t be able to go trick-or-treating this year due to this flight, so I decided to bring trick-or-treating to her,” the father wrote to his fellow passengers on Monday.
“If you are willing, when my little donut comes down the aisle, please drop this in her basket. You’ll be making her Halloween!”
Fellow traveler Stephanie Kahan shared a photograph of the message alongside the caption “dad of the year” on Twitter. “My heart absolutely melted when I saw the note,” said Kahan, who works for the micro-blogging site, via email on Tuesday.
The Boston mom-of-one told The Huffington Post that the man’s little girl was talking excitedly behind her before take off about “how she couldn’t wait to trick or treat” in San Francisco.
“I was so sad for her because I thought she was planning to trick or treat when we landed, which was midnight in SF, and I knew she was going to be disappointed,” Kahan told HuffPost. “But sure enough, about an hour and a half into the flight the dad started passing out treats with the note attached.”
Kahan said other passengers were “thrilled” to be a part of the youngster’s Halloween experience. “When she got back to her seat, the dad asked if she had fun, and she said she was ready to eat the candy,” she added.
