Why do these men dice vegetables and sauté meat after a long day of work? Perhaps it's because they like to eat well; home-cooked food is healthier than prepared food. Perhaps it's because they like to save money; home-cooked food is cheaper than take-out. But most likely, it's because they like to be happy -- numerous studies have documented that men who cook have highly rewarding romantic relationships with their spouses!

These are not stay-at-home dads: they are working fathers who, night after night, give new meaning to the idea of putting food on the table. Man with a Pan (Algonquin Books, May 2011) by John Donohue of the New Yorker introduces us to dozens of these men who fully embrace the apron. This spoof video by Parent Earth shows how much relief dad can bring when he steps into the kitchen!
