Daily Meditation: Spiritual Sustenance

Today's meditation features the dua, or invocation, Muslims speak at the beginning and end of each day's fast for Ramadan. The month of fasting is a time when Muslims focus on their spirituality to bring them closer to God. May we all find sustenance in our spiritual lives.

Dua at the beginning of the fast:

I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

Transliteration: Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan.

Dua at the end of the fast:

O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance.

Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu.
