Daily Meditation: Being One With The Earth

Daily Meditation: Being One With The Earth

We all need help maintaining our personal spiritual practice. We hope that these daily meditations, prayers and mindful awareness exercises can be part of bringing spirituality alive in your life.

Today's meditation features the song "Mother Earth" by Navajo musician Sharon Burch. The translation comes from Navajo language translator Krystle Seschillie on her blog Navajo Now. The song reminds us that we are a part of a larger cosmic system -- whether you call that God, Mother Earth or something else entirely.

Mother Earth by Sharon Burch

Heiyee’ everything brings happiness.
Heiyee’ everything brings happiness.
Heineiyaa.

I am part of Mother Earth.
Mother Earth’s feet are my feet.
Mother Earth’s legs are my legs.
Mother Earth’s strength is my strength.
Mother Earth’s arms are my arms.
Mother Earth’s has a vision, I have a vision.

I am part of Mother Earth.
Mother Earth’s feet are my feet.
Mother Earth’s legs are my legs.
Mother Earth’s strength is my strength.
Mother Earth’s arms are my arms.
Mother Earth’s consciousness is my consciousness.
