Dallas Latos, the wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos, tweeted that she was attacked by a Pirates fan during the NL Wild Card Game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
The author of the blog "So I Married A Baseball Player" at MLBlogs.com, Dallas told her followers on Twitter that she had been punched multiple times and filed a police report. The crowd on hand to watch the Pirates' 6-2 win over the Reds was the largest ever at 13-year-old PNC Park, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Here are some of the tweets from Dallas' timeline on Tuesday night:
Got punched in the head at least 3 times by a pirates fan so this has been cool.

Spent most of the game talking to police. Fancy is one word that comes to mind.

“@DallasLatos not intentionally, right? (via @zlovas90)” I was grabbed by my hair and beat in the head. Pretty sure it was intentional.

Pittsburgh police can’t arrest anyone on assault accounts so I’m the one who spent the game talking to law enforcement after being attacked.

Hey- I box for fun & didn’t even swing back bc it was so uncalled for. just blocked my head bc that’s what was attacked. Who does that?!

Look. Check the police report. I was ambushed in the Budweiser bar, grabbed by the hair, drug down & punched in the head multiple times.

I’m “fine” but my head hurts. Never swung back bc I was trying to protect myself. Will go to the doc when we get back. :/

A huge man called me a cunt & said he was going to kick my ass so I told security. His chick is who threatened me & then attacked me.

Just know that security knew I had been threatened multiple times (not even wearing Cincy gear), chose not to take action & I got attacked.

Every opportunity was given to pirates security to deal with this before it happened. Unbelievable.
— Dallas Latos (@DallasLatos) October 2, 2013
Only said something bc I’m shocked by how shitty that was handled by PNC security. Beyond.

Thanks to the pirates fan who saw it happen & apologized. Not condemning you as a group at all. That was simply wild.
