PHOTOS: Tornadoes Cause Damage Across Texas

Tornadoes ripped through parts of Texas Tuesday causing considerable damage in towns near the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Cameras captured footage of trailers and semi trucks being tossed in the air, as hundreds of residents took shelter from the storms.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there had been no reports of serious injuries.

However, the mayors of Arlington and Lancaster, Texas, have both declared states of disaster for their cities after reports of extensive damage, according to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth.

The severe weather also caused American Airlines to cancel several flights out the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, although the airport itself remains open.

Update:
About 12 tornadoes were estimated to have touched down throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Tuesday, April 3, the Associated Press reports. No deaths have been reported.

According to Reuters, there's a higher survival rate when tornadoes occur during the day because people can hear warnings and take cover.

For those interested in helping tornado victims, FOX News recommends donating money to the Red Cross or volunteering for clean-up efforts.
