'Dancing With The Stars' Premiere: Amber Riley Dominates Early, Ties Highest Debut Score Ever (VIDEO)

'Dancing With The Stars' Premiere: Amber Riley Dominates

It usually takes awhile for the celebs to start earning those high scores on "Dancing With the Stars," but "Glee" star Amber Riley wasted no time at all. She earned the highest score ever for a debut performance, tying with former competitors Kristi Yamaguchi and Aaron Carter. Kristi won her season, while Aaron came in fifth on his. All those musical numbers on "Glee" clearly served Amber very well indeed.

And just like that, Riley is looking like the one to beat this season on "DWTS." She earned 27 points for her opening cha-cha with partner Derek Hough. Bruno Tonioli dubbed her the "tigress of Season 17," while Carrie Ann Inaba nicknamed her "superstar." Making her debut even more special, a ton of Amber's "Glee" co-stars were on hand to cheer her on.

Hollywood Life's Dory Larrabee thought Amber totally killed it, while The Wall Street Journal's Lisa Reynolds called her performance the "crowd pleaser of the night." She also noted that Amber has the good fortune of working alongside Derek, a four-time winner and the reigning "DWTS" champion.

Season 17 marks the first time "Dancing With the Stars" will not have a results show. Instead, dancers will perform and be eliminated during the same broadcast each week. "DWTS" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
