The 6-year-old daughter of Anne Nicole Smith is following in her mother's modeling footsteps, making her debut as a "Guess Kids Girl." Her dad believes the project will pay tribute to her late mom, and bring the family a little extra cash.

“The Guess kids Spring 2013 ads feature both Dannielynn and Babyface's daughter Peyton Edmonds, and are set to debut in January,” one fashion insider tells The Huffington Post. “Both kids got paid the same, favored-nations deal and earned $10,000 each.”

The two children star in both print and broadcast commercials wearing hats, striped shirts, denim vests, shorts and even miniskirts. Shot on a beach in Malibu, Calif., the images that have been released so far feature a solo Dannielynn.

Guess? Inc.'s creative director, Paul Marciano, said in a statement that Dannielynn "has the same playful spirit that her mother had on a set" and this was the first time the company has launched a campaign with a "second-generation Guess Girl." Her mom starred in Guess denim commercials in 1992 and 1993.

“Ten thousand dollars is a lot of money but nowhere near the $1 million Larry [Birkhead, Danielynn's father] was paid by OK! magazine in 2007,” one weekly editor-in-chief tells The Huffington Post. “Larry met Anna when he was a photographer and knows the value of a picture. The deal with Guess was more about publicity than it was about making a fortune.”

That, of course, was something many have criticized.

“Although these Guess Kids' ads are done tastefully and beautifully, her father should really try to keep her out of the spotlight as long as he can, given her mother's history,” Lyss Stern, founder of DivaMoms.com tells The Huffington Post. "Why does she have to follow in her mother's footsteps? Yes, she's a beautiful little girl, but it would really be best to keep her out of the spotlight until she's an adult. I think her father should be nurturing her and sheltering her from the media, not the opposite. If she wants to model when she's adult, then that's her decision, but for now, she should be living a life out of the eyes of the media."
