David Bowie's Majestic Evolution, In Photos

Ch-ch-changes.

"Ch-ch-changes, just gonna have to be a different man. Time may change me. But I can't trace time."

It's safe to say that no other musician has transformed himself as much as David Bowie did.

He began his career in the early 1960s as a guitarist in a wedding band. Both his music and style were reflective of the era -- he originally looked much like The Beatles. Over time, however, Bowie took on folk, pop, electronica, psychedelia, punk rock and glam rock, and he changed his hair and dress to match the music.

His name also changed. He was born David Jones, first changing it to Davy Jones, and eventually settling on David Bowie in honor of American pioneer Jim Bowie. In the early 1970s, he also created an alter-ego called Ziggy Stardust, an androgynous figure who embraced glam rock.

Take a journey throughout the decades of Bowie's career in the photos below and marvel at his creative and iconic evolution.
