Director David Cromer, who has been a mainstay in Chicago theater for years but made a national splash with a revelatory production of Our Town in 2008, stopped by The Interview Show, hosted by Mark Bazer at The Hideout in Chicago.

He talked aging, optimism vs. pessimism, and his newest play, a revival of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth starring Diane Lane and Finn Wittrock at the Goodman Theatre. Previews begin Sept. 14.
