Music producer David Gest was found dead at the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf, London on Tuesday. He was 62.

His death was confirmed by his friend and former bodyguard, Imad Handi.

“It is with great sadness that I can confirm that David Gest has died today. David was truly larger than life. He was not just a huge talent and a dear friend, but a showbiz icon," he said in a statement on Monday, according to The Independent.

People magazine reports that Scotland Yard also released a statement confirming the death of a man at the Four Seasons Hotel in London, but they cannot confirm the identity of the deceased at this time.

According to their statement, authorities responded to reports of an "unexplained death of a man in his 60s" and his death is "being treated as non-suspicious at this stage."

Gest was a music producer and reality TV star. He was famously married to Liza Minnelli from 2002 until the actress filed for divorce in 2003, after just 16-months of marriage.

In early January, he began competing on "Celebrity Big Brother," but left the show on Jan. 18 due to undisclosed health reasons.
