D.C. Teddy Bear Drive For Oklahoma After Moore Tornado: 94.7 Fresh FM, Washington Family Magazine Collect Stuffed Animals

Send A Teddy Bear To Moore, Oklahoma

WASHINGTON -- It's easy to feel helpless watching news coverage of the E4 tornado that devastated Moore, Okla. While national organizations like the Red Cross and the Salvation Army are mobilizing massive relief efforts on the ground, a local D.C. initiative is focused on the tornado's youngest victims: children.

Washington Family Magazine and 94.7 Fresh FM are sponsoring a D.C.-area teddy bear drive to collect stuffed animals to send to the children of Moore.

"This is our way of sending some comfort and hope to those kids," Tommy McFly, host of 94.7's The Tommy Show, told The Huffington Post. "We want these kids to know that Washington cares with our bears."

Drop-off locations will be set up through the weekend in the District, Maryland and Virginia. Teddy bear donations will be accepted through 6 p.m. Monday before the stuffed pets are shipped off to Oklahoma.
