DCCC Fundraising Continues With Strong June Haul

WASHINGTON -- The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $6.7 million in June to put its total six-month haul at $40.8 million, according to a DCCC aide.

The committee's fundraising pace, ahead of last election's record fundraising, has helped to retire the DCCC's $17 million debt early in the cycle. The DCCC paid off its old debt last cycle in December 2011 and even later in the 2010 election. Thanks to the elimination of its debt, the DCCC had $13.2 million cash on hand at the end of June.

Seventy-five percent of the House Democratic caucus have paid some of their dues owed to the committee. Five members -- DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) and Reps. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and Joe Kennedy (D-Mass.) -- have paid their full dues.

The committee continues to raise large sums of money, mostly from small donors, through the Internet. Through the first half of 2013, the DCCC raised $9 million over the Internet, more than twice what it had raised at a similar point in 2011.

President Barack Obama has also helped to raise money for the DCCC, appearing at three fundraising events this year.
