Dear Artists: When You Feel Like Quitting, Read This.

Whenever I do something day in and day out, I tend to reflect on what I'm working towards. As an artist, I'm constantly asking myself why I do what I do. What do I want to say with my work? What's my message?

Whenever I do something day in and day out, I tend to reflect on what I'm working towards. As an artist, I'm constantly asking myself why I do what I do. What do I want to say with my work? What's my message?

Sometimes I get discouraged. I look around at all the amazing photographers in the world and how I could ever possibly compare. It's the same with my writing, my music, and basically any other creative endeavor. But whenever I find myself on the verge of quitting, I'm reminded of why I create art. It's not to impress people with my work, but to show them the power of creating something and choosing to share it with the world.

We all have the ability to connect with someone. To include them. To inspire them. To challenge their way of thinking. And it all begins with simply choosing to take action with our ideas. Think about about amazing that is.

That's why I do what I do. Not for the likes. Not for the followers. But to empower people. To help them realize that they're not alone. That life can be a struggle and sometimes it's easy to feel insignificant in this vast universe. But at any moment, you can dictate how your story will unfold.
