It's a good thing Ruth Bader Ginsburg didn't heed the advice of so many talking heads calling for her retirement.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court heard the most significant abortion rights case in more than 20 years. The case challenges a set of Texas laws that imposes strict hospital-like ambulatory surgical center (ASC) requirements on abortion clinics, requires that abortion providers have admitting privileges at local hospitals, and requires women take several extra steps to have a non-surgical medication abortion. The law has already shut down dozens of clinics in the state and could close even more if it's upheld; upholding it would also allow similar laws to be passed and enacted in other states, limiting abortion access broadly for U.S. women.
