Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame, a Somali terrorism suspect, is headed to New York City for trial. What's that sound you're hearing from the usual suspects on cable TV? A mere two days after Independence Day we're being subjected to a mass freak out aimed at convincing Americans that courts in the home of the brave aren't up to the task of trying terrorists. In fact, just this afternoon, Senate Minority Leader McConnell went to the Senate floor to claim that the decision to try Warsame in federal court "is harming the national security of the United States of America."

Ring a bell? Actually, you could be excused for forgetting that NYC was the site of another terrorism trial last year. Ahmed Ghailani was tried, convicted, and sentenced while life in the Big Apple went on without street closures, work stoppages, or extra security.
