Another week, another DeMarcus Cousins trade-story. It’s like a coin flip at this point.

One side of the coin has the Sacramento Kings ready to part with their franchise cornerstone, making him available ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

The other side of the coin has DeMarcus Cousins remaining with the Kings throughout the duration of their never-ending rebuild.

Wherever the coin lands is the week’s hot story. This week, that coin landed on the side that sees Cousins staying in Sacramento, well, forever.

"I'm very happy," Cousins said in an interview with SportsCenter on Thursday . "It's where I want to be."

"I think we're on the right path this season," Cousins said. "We're playing the best basketball of the season so far. Our team is extremely confident. We believe we can make this push and make it happen. We've been preaching it all year. It's on us to make it happen."

"I'm a guy that's all about loyalty and honesty," he said. "It's hard, but at the end of the day you gotta remember that this is a business. Your expectations can't be too high when it comes to trust and loyalty. I realize that. I know it's a business. At the end of the day I'm not always shocked. It still catches me off guard sometimes, but I'm not shocked."

As far as trust goes, Cousins trusts his inner circle.

"I trust my circle. My family, my friends. [Former Kentucky teammates] John Wall (Washington Wizards) and Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix Suns)," he said. "[Trust] is hard to come by. It's a rare quality these days. You're not going to find a lot of loyal people. These days it's all about self. When you can find those people are all about the next person and showing love no matter what the next situation is, you gotta keep them close."

Look, Cousins is saying the right things and he has to. Not just because if he said otherwise it would cast a dark cloud over the Kings but also Cousins reputation and image as a malcontent and a headache needs repair.

Cousins going on a tirade demanding an exodus from Sacramento, forcing his way out, does nothing to help him, nor the team. It’s unlikely that if that scenario were to play out that teams wouldn’t be hesitant about paying the hefty price tag to add Cousins to their roster.

These rumors won’t go away anytime soon, but for now the coin has landed on the side that has Cousins married to Sacramento for the long term.

Give it some time, the coin is bound to land on the other side eventually.
