After receiving some backlash for calling out Taylor Swift and her squad of models, Demi Lovato has decided she’ll take a step away from the spotlight in the new year.

On Tuesday afternoon, the “Confident” singer announced that she’ll give her heart a break from music because she’s simply “not meant for this business and the media.”

Lovatics, of course, were shocked to read the singer’s announcement. One fan asked the star on Twitter if she planned on coming back, to which Lovato responded, “dunno.”

Lovato’s announcement comes just after she spoke about Swift in the latest issue of Glamour.

The former “X Factor” judge was asked about her past criticisms of Swift and the “Bad Blood” singer’s brand of feminism. She answered by literally acknowledging, “this will probably get me in trouble,” adding, “I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real…. It’s not realistic.”

She wasn’t sorry for her words, though, even after a few people on Twitter called her “disrespectful.” Instead, she tweeted that she’s “not apologizing for saying what everyone want[s] to say.”
