Why Demi Moore Was Hospitalized

Why She Was Hospitalized

First Heather, now Demi. Although details remain relatively scant, we may know a little more about what, exactly, brought on Demi Moore's sudden hospitalization Monday night. The cause was an epileptic seizure, according to multiple reports, which also claim that the 49-year-old actress is being treated for anorexia and substance abuse issues.

TMZ first reported that a phone call had been made to 911 from Moore's Los Angeles home. A rep for the actress confirmed her hospitalization, saying in a statement: "Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."

On Tuesday, daughter Rumer Willis could be seen talking on her cell phone and smoking a cigarette outside of the hospital where her mother was being treated. The two are visibly close: Moore had been recently spotted partying with 23-year-old Rumer at a Hollywood hotspot in early January, allegedly not consuming any alcohol but flirting openly with "90210" actor Ryan Rottman instead.

Moore had previously been rumored to be suffering from substance abuse while still married to Ashton Kutcher, 16 years her junior. Moore announced her plans for divorce in November 2011.
