Democrats Must Not Cut Energy Assistance for the Poor

I never thought I would see a Democratic president fight to cut low income energy assistance for the poor. But I never thought I would see Democrats claim credit for extending all of the Bush tax cuts, while telling those who have been jobless for 99 weeks to drop dead.

I would urge every Democrat, liberal, progressive, populist and independent with conscience to contact the White House and Democrats in Congress and oppose any attempt to cut low income energy assistance to the poor and to support immediately helping those who have been jobless for 99 weeks.

Even in this sad and sorry business of Washington, D.C. Democrats have to stand for something, believe in something, and fight for something. It is not letting those who have been jobless for 99 weeks suffer without help, while the poor who are freezing are now under attack, by those who celebrate tax cuts for the most wealthy.
