Denise Richards On Ex Charlie Sheen: 'I Will Be There For Him No Matter What' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Denise's 'Odd' Relationship With Ex Charlie Sheen

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen went through a very public -- and hostile -- divorce several years back. Amid allegations of drug abuse, restraining orders and custody battles for the couple's two daughters, the split could have been considered one of Hollywood's nastiest. Richards had even called Sheen verbally abusive and admitted that she was scared of his temper when she appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2008. But today, it seems that things couldn't be more different.

"Oprah: Where Are They Now?" caught up with the actress to get an update on her life and, in the above video, Richards reveals a surprising evolution in her once-bitter relationship with Sheen. She says it began with Sheen coming over to her house to spend time with their daughters.

"It just evolved into him coming over more often and us going there," Richards says. "We even vacation together, which is odd for some people -- and I would think so too, on the outside looking in. But it works for us."

Not only are Richards and Sheen on good terms for the sake of their children, but feelings of animosity seem to truly be behind them. "We actually enjoy being around each other. We have fun," Richards says. "And we're not faking it in front of the kids. I'm sure at the beginning there were times that we were, but [now] it's genuine."

Richards also explains one of the reasons she and Sheen are on good terms. "There's a respect there," she says. "He knows I don't judge him and he knows that I will be there for him no matter what -- and vice versa."

Richards' full interview airs on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" on Sunday, July 28, at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.
