Derek Jeter Still Has Some Tricks Up His Sleeves At Age 40

Derek Jeter Fakes Out Opponent To Start Double Play

Derek Jeter made the defensive play of the game on Monday night without even touching the ball.

With one out in the eighth inning and Cleveland's Jason Kipnis on first base, Asdrubal Cabrera hit a pop fly to Yankees third baseman Zelous Wheeler in foul territory. But as Wheeler got in position to make the catch, Kipnis had already put his head down and took off for second base. With Kipnis not paying attention to where the ball was heading, Jeter faked like he was catching the ball at second base and turning a double play. After Kipnis slid into second base, the 40-year-old veteran signaled for Wheeler to throw the ball back to first base to complete the real double play.

Well done, Captain.
