Designing Change: The History of Red Carpet Green Dress

History in the dressmaking! The Designing Change short film below follows Suzy Amis Cameron's Red Carpet Green Dress campaign, from its inception at the Academy Awards in 2009 through the recent Oscar ceremony in 2016. Red Carpet Green Dress is a sustainable fashion campaign that showcases fashion that is both glamorous and sustainable, while raising awareness of the global impact of the fashion industry on people and the planet.

The short film highlights Red Carpet Green Dress' seven-year journey--the pitfalls, challenges and stunning solutions--as talented teams create dresses each year for actress ambassadors, such as Naomie Harris, Gina Rodriguez and Sophie Turner, to grace the Academy Awards' red carpet. The design teams have consisted of students and experts alike, including the iconic Dame Vivienne Westwood, Penny Walsh and the Royal School of Needlework, along with a committed group of sponsors and sustainable fashion partners.
