'Desperate Housewives' Stars Inking New Contracts, Season Eight Coming

'Desperate Housewives' Stars Drama Ending

One drama ends, so another can begin.

Deadline is reporting that ABC and the four leading ladies of "Desperate Housewives" are about to wrap up protracted contract negotiations, paving the way for an eighth and possibly ninth season of the hit show. It's a long time coming -- Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman have been holding out for raises since at least January.

According to the report, each lady of Wisteria Lane would earn a base salary of $325,000 per episode for the eighth season, and if the show is picked up for a ninth, they'll get $350,000 per episode.

In February, Cherry seemed worried that deals may not get done. "I've specifically asked [ABC] to please get the deal done as quickly as possible so I can know," Cherry said at ABC's upfront presentation. "I would hate to have to wrap up Desperate Housewives in an untidy fashion just because they weren't able to make a deal. But everyone's pretty optimistic a deal will be made."
