The holiday season is also the start of the film awards buzz, thus making it a wonderful time to check out some great movies including “Destined” a film by Qasim Basir that is already an official selection of the Los Angeles Film Festival. “Destined” stars Cory Hardrict, Hill Harper, La La Anthony, and Jesse Metcalfe.
“Destined’ is an incredible movie because it successfully showcases the diverse talents of the cast who play dual roles in this film that features parallel stories of two young men portrayed by Cory Hardrict (Sheed and Rasheed). “Destined” artfully depicts how life altering circumstances can result from one choice, as demonstrated by the two main characters, Sheed and Rasheed. As polar opposites, Sheed is heavily entrenched in the drug world and Rasheed is an architect working in the corporate world; however, as their stories unfold, their journeys present similar challenges that take the audiences on an engaging ride.
“Destined” is directed and written by Qasim Basir who also received an NAACP Image Award nomination for the 2010 film “Mooz-Lum” starring Nia Long, Evan Ross, and Danny Glover.
Since the premiere of “Destined” at the Los Angeles Film Festival, the film has won nine awards, including “Best Director” and “Best Actor” at the American Black Film Festival, as well as “Best Narrative Feature” at Urbanworld.
“Destined” is currently playing in theaters. For information go to https://www.facebook.com/destinedmovie.
