Internet Charmed By Viral Photo Of Teen Working To Pay For First Real Date

"He's definitely a keeper."

This teen definitely does not cut corners when it comes to courting.

A photo recently shared on Facebook by Ryan Cox shows 14-year-old Cody Mitschelin mowing a lawn in Oakdale, California. According to the post, the teen wanted to take his girlfriend, Audrey Fierro, out to lunch but didn't have the money. So he decided to do some work to raise funds for his first "real" date.

The photo went viral as social media users fell in love with the teen's devotion to his girlfriend. The restaurant the two ended up going to even gave them a complimentary meal, rewarding Cody's thoughtfulness, KCRA reported.

"Hope is still alive for the future generation and our sons and daughters," Cox wrote. "I'm impressed by whoever is raising this boy, great job!!!"

While Cody and Audrey have been together for six months, the 14-year-old explained that their dates had been small activities -- this would be their first out on the town, according to the Star-Telegram. According to Cox's Facebook post, the teen knocked on the man's door and said he'd mow the lawn for $5. Cox initially declined the offer, however he changed his mind after discovering the teen's purpose behind the service, KCRA reported.

Cox and another neighbor Timmy Jaramillo ended up helping Cody get more business while the teen worked hard, mowing lawns and sweeping sidewalks. When all was said and done, the 14-year-old ended up with enough money to buy his girlfriend lunch, and then some.

The teen ended up taking Audrey to Safari Pizza, where they received a complimentary meal.

“When I got in there and they sat me down, everybody went, ‘Aww,’ ” Cody recalled of the date, according to the Star-Telegram.

His dedication to Audrey has moved people as far away as Vietnam and New Zealand and strangers have offered Cody everything from relationship advice to job offers, Cox told KCRA.

And while he's found Internet fame, there's a far more important outcome to all of this -- Cody's impressed his date.

"He's definitely a keeper," Audrey told KCRA.
