Diahann Carroll's Style Evolution: From Broadway Babe To Small Screen Legend (PHOTOS)

Diahann Carroll's 20 Most Glamorous Looks

If I were asked to compile a list of my top 10 style icons, Diahann Carroll would definitely make the cut. I've been mesmerized by the Bronx-born beauty since she made her appearance as Dominique Deveraux on the 1980s soap opera "Dynasty." From her full-bodied curls to her equally big shoulder pads and personality, Carroll showed co-stars Joan Collins and Linda Evans that she was much more than a pretty face.

Blossoming from a teenage model and nightclub singer into a budding actress, Carroll caught a major break alongside Dorothy Dandridge in the 1954 film "Carmen Jones." However, it was her title role as "Julia" in 1968, the first non-stereotypical role for an African-American woman on an American TV show, that propelled her to star status and earned her a Golden Globe Award. With a career that spans five decades, including an Academy Award nod and impressive music catalog, Carroll continues to stun, donning perfectly-coiffed curls, classic black pant suits and pointed-toe heels.

In celebration of Carroll's 77th birthday on Tuesday (July 17th), we're taking a look back at the Hollywood legend's style over the years. Vote on all her looks in the slideshow below.

Meanwhile, Diahann Carroll and Kerry Washington prove that you can have impeccable style at any age.
