James Foley's Mother Sends A Powerful Message To Steven Sotloff's Family

The mother of slain journalist James Foley sent a moving message on Wednesday to the family of Steven Sotloff, who, like Foley, was beheaded by the militant Islamic State group.

Both Foley and Sotloff were killed after being kidnapped while reporting as freelancers in Syria.

Foley's mother, Diane Foley, had already gone through the unbearable process of mourning her own son in public, but that did not stop her from sending her condolences to the Sotloff family during an interview with New England Cable News (NECN) on Wednesday. Foley said she hoped that these horrific events would somehow lead to "goodness and peace."

"I just want to extend our deepest condolences to the Sotloff family and their friends," she said. "We are just heartbroken for them. I just pray that all Americans will hold the Sotloff family in prayer as they have for us. People have been incredibly supportive and good to us and we're very grateful for that. We truly received support and prayer from around the world."

She called on all world leaders, including President Obama, to work together to ensure that no more lives are taken.
