The Difference Between Wisdom And Intelligence Explained

IQ Vs. Wisdom: What's The Difference?

In conjunction with the release of Arianna Huffington's book "Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder," HuffPost Live is taking a closer look at wisdom and what it entails.

Surprisingly, it doesn't inherently work in tandem with IQ, according to Charles Duhigg, the author of "The Power Of Habit."

"What we know is that people who tend to be able to use information -- to learn quickly and to be able to use information quickly ... [they] are usually people who have developed mental habits that help them absorb more quickly and see the analogies inherent in what they've learned," Duhigg said.

But being able to analyze that information and use it in unrelated circumstances is the true mark of wisdom.

"Typically people who can see beyond the information they've learned and apply it through analogies to other situations in their life or see other insights from it, those are the people we typically refer to as being exceptionally wise," he said.
