Man Allegedly Sets Fire To House After His Wife Asked For A Divorce

A Clarksville, Tenn. man reportedly set fire to his house after his wife asked for a divorce, The Tennessean reported Wednesday.

Chad Joseph Kirby, 36, may have caused an estimated $40,000 worth of damage to his home Tuesday after his wife moved out, local police said in a press release obtained by the paper.

Kirby was arrested and charged with arson, The Tennessean reported.

He's not the first to commit an alleged fiery crime of passion. In 1994, late TLC rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was jailed and sent to an alcohol rehabilitation center after setting fire to her boyfriend's Georgia mansion.

And in September 2011, a Lawrence County, PA man was charged with arson and insurance fraud after he burnt down his marital home and collected more than $160,000 in insurance money. In the process, he robbed his ex-wife of the proceeds of the house, which was be sold as a marital asset under their divorce settlement.
