DIY Embellished Headband To Dress Up Your Holiday Hairdo (VIDEO)

Which means more money to spend on gift shopping!

Between gift shopping for family and friends and buying a new dress to wear to the office party, our monthly budgets are taking a huge hit. So, we'd gladly take any suggestions on how to save a few extra dollars, especially in the style department.

In the video above, BellaSugar beauty reporter Kirbie Johnson shows us an inexpensive way to recreate the embellished headbands seen at Oscar de la Renta's fall 2012 fashion show. And this is all you need: a one-inch thick satin ribbon, adhesive Velcro strips, a jeweled brooch, hot glue gun and glue sticks, and scissors. After measuring and cutting the ribbon to fit around your head, slide the brooch on until it reaches the halfway point and secure with glue. Affixing small adhesive Velcro square underneath the ribbon will keep the headpiece from slipping off. Style your strands into an updo (ponytail, chignon or bouffant) and tie on the headpiece, adding a bow detail at the end.

What do you think about this do-it-yourself headband? Would you consider making your own sparkly accessory? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.
