'Django Unchained': Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Jamie Foxx the Silent Treatment (VIDEO)

Why Leonardo DiCaprio Snubbed Jamie Foxx On The 'Django' Set (VIDEO)

When arriving on the set of Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" one day, Leonardo DiCaprio walked past co-star Jamie Foxx without even a glance.

"I said, 'What's up, Leo?'" Jamie tells Oprah in an "Oprah's Next Chapter" interview airing December 23 on OWN. "He did not speak to me."

When he got no response, Jamie says he asked himself, "Did he not hear me?"

Turns out, Leo was just following a directive from his Academy Award-winning co-star. Jamie tells Oprah that the day before, he'd spoken to Leo about embracing method acting on set in order for the two of them to get a better grasp on the disturbing material. "I told Leo, 'You're not my friend,'" he says. "We're not repped by the same people. This is 18-whatever-year it is and this is how we talk.'"

In "Django Unchained," Jamie stars as the titular character, a freed slave-turned-bounty hunter in the pre-Civil War South. Leo plays ruthless plantation owner Calvin Candie, the cruel owner of Django's beloved wife.

Jamie tells Oprah that Leo was all in character that silent day on set. "He went way in to where it's like, 'Okay, now you're really going there,'" Jamie says. "And that was what was needed."

The "Oprah's Next Chapter" interview with Jamie Foxx airs Sunday, Dec. 23, at 9 ET on OWN.
