Can you believe 2015 has gone by so quickly?

Each year seems to pass by quicker than the next as we all live busy lives and don't notice the time just flying by.

Or do we notice it but don't know what to do about it?

We really can't do anything about time passing by quickly but we can do something about the three things that are in our control, which are:

1. Your outlook on life.
2. Your choices.
3. Your enthusiasm.

Let's take a look at all three:

1. Your Outlook On Life: This one factor will have a big influence on your intentions. If your outlook on life is optimistic and positive, allowing the universe to bring you the gifts it has in store, then you will not get in the way of progress.

2. Your Choices: The choices you make are always influenced by your deeper intentions, which are only known to you. These intentions have their roots in your mind where you do all your thinking, doubting and guessing.

You have to become aware of why you tend to make the same choices and what is there in your intentions, which attract you to the same things. For example, if you want to lose weight you first need to know what your intention is for wanting to lose weight.

3. Your Enthusiasm: Reaching your goal is key to seeing the journey through. Enthusiasm is the energy that will keep you from falling behind or giving up. This is the energy which will carry you to the end and beyond so you never look back and keep moving forward.
The beginning of the year brings with it many challenges because of all the expectations we put on ourselves. If you think about it, only one day has passed between the 31st and the 1st but it seems to make all the difference to everyone...or does it?

I question this because why does this one day make such an impact on everyone's psyche to the point where people think something miraculous is going to happen to change their lives?

There is a simple answer to this; people bank all their money on "hope" rather than "practicality." With each year that rolls in, most people's focus is on "hope and trying" but not actually on "doing." This becomes everyone's downfall.

Your approach and mindset to how you want to reach your goals is going to make the biggest impact on whether you can build enough momentum to accomplish them and to also sustain yourself to the point of permanent change.

At this point you need to ask yourself "how badly do I want to reach my goal?"

This needs to be very clear to you.

Now that you have decided this is very important to you, we can look at the steps you now need to take to reach your desired goal.

Start with;

1. Do My Goals Align With My Beliefs?
This is important because much of the time you vacillate between what you believe and what you think is the 'old' you that the present moment becomes confusing.

For Example; a client of mine said to me that they wanted to do some yoga and learn more about Yogic living because they wanted to feel closer to their partner and be more supportive of them. But then after a month they didn't continue with the practice and became distracted with something else they like to do. So you see you might say one thing but actually believe or want to do something else. This is why if you are clear with yourself from the beginning you won't lie to yourself or to others.

2. How hard am I willing to work to reach my goal?
It's easy to say you are going to work hard but to actually follow through with it takes determination. For me personally, when I start something I now ask myself this question because in the past I've started a few projects and quickly found out that I wasn't willing to do the work once things got a little hard. This is a big waste of time especially when we could be doing what we love to do.

3. Does my goal need long-term attention?
There are long term and short-term goals, which we all have. If we are dealing with short-term goals they will not need as much effort from us as does a long-term goal. If you are going to set up your own business you will need a long-term view of things rather than if you are going to learn to cook a few dishes of food.

4. What kind of preparation do you need to do in order to reach your goal?
If you are planning on losing weight for instance then you will need to prepare by emptying the house of things, which are temptations for you. You will have to fill the fridge with fruits and vegetables and discard all the foods that normally make you put weight on. You will have to make sure to stay away from events and people who are not supportive of your goal.

5. What kind of support do you need along your journey?
If you have made it a point to give up drinking as your goal, then you will need some support from people so you don't feel tempted to start drinking again. You need to befriend others who also don't drink and support a healthy lifestyle. It is much easier hanging out with others who have the same lifestyle so you feel supported and can grow in their presence rather than fall back into your old ways. 6. When you reach your goal, what do you need to do to sustain the changes and not fall back into old habits?
This is often the beginning of the second part of the journey, especially if you have reached this phase before. Not falling back into old habits needs a lot of attention from you. It means spending more time practicing your new habits/change so you can distance yourself from the old you.

These are the 6 points to take into account to prepare, start and sustain you through your journey of change towards reaching your goals. The beginning of the year brings with it a lot of excitement.

If you follow the tips that I explained, you can turn excitement into reality and can experience what it's like to flourish and become purposeful in your life.

Have a great year.

Much love,
