Most of our battles in life take place on the battlefield within our minds. Life is like school, filled with many lessons to be learned during each stage of our growth. Those of us that learn our lessons are fortunate enough to move onto the next stage, while others are left to repeat the class.

Can you withstand the rigorous curriculum of life while striving towards your goals?

True champions stare adversity in the face and rise above their circumstances. Is it difficult? Yes. But understand all challenges are character-building moments that increase your mental endurance and prepare you for life's next lesson.

Be Relentless.

People who are winning in life are continuously jumping the hurdles in their path. Successful people refuse to quit because life dealt them a few lemons. They take those lemons, squeeze them into a glass of water, add sugar, and drink up! You can't quit because life gets too difficult. Life gets hard for everyone at some point. Your test will eventually become your testimony. Keep pushing.

Live. Make Mistakes. Learn. Grow.

If you're like me, you've probably made quite a few mistakes in your lifetime. I've shared many of my imperfections and mistakes via my live broadcasts on Facebook and Periscope. We must view mistakes and failures as stepping-stones and opportunities for growth. Napoleon Hill the author of Think and Grow Rich referred to failures as temporary defeats.

Many people who are deemed as successful, failed multiple times before they became a success in society's eyes. Unfortunately, most of us are only witnesses to the glory without knowing the extent of every failure a person has endured.

Successful people know that there is no embarrassment in failure. If you live long enough, you'll make a mistake -- or a series of mistakes -- that will result in a temporary defeat. Use your temporary defeat as an opportunity to learn and begin again.

Always work like you're second-best.

As you continue to climb the mountain to your goals, understand there's always something on your heels itching to get within arms reach to grab your ankles and snatch you down. In basketball, we have a saying: "Even if you're number one, always work like you're number two." It means we should always strive for better. Complacency and procrastination are the enemies of success.

Never let anyone outwork you.

In business, being comfortable equals stagnation -- and stagnation always leads to death. If you're a business owner, you must continue to innovate and keep a pulse on industry trends and customer demands. Someone is taking notes on your successes and failures, reviewing your customer pain points, and plotting on how to improve your existing model. Remember, ABC: Always Be Creating.

Life is a marathon, not a sprint. The ones who thrive possess the mental agility to navigate the volatile roads.
