Dodgeball World Record: Almost 5,000 Alberta Students Play In Massive Game (VIDEO)

WATCH: Thousands Compete In World's Largest Dodgeball Game

Nearly 5,000 people (4,979 to be exact) gathered at the University of Alberta to set the record for the world's largest dodgeball game.

The game represents the third record set in Alberta in as many years. But, apparently, the competition to retain the crown is fierce when it comes to massive dodgeball games. In September, roughly 4,000 people gathered in Utah to set a new record for largest game, only to see their attempt bested by students at the University of California-Irvine, which held a contest with 4,488 participants.

While those numbers are impressive, it appears that with this game, the University of Alberta's name will sit atop the record books...for now.
