World's Largest Dog Eyes: Bruschi The Boston Terrier Eyeballs World Record

SEEING IS BELIEVING: This Boston Terrier Has The World's Largest Dog Eyes

It's a week of life-changing moments for 18-year-old Victoria Reed.

Not only is she graduating from high school in Grapevine, Texas, but her four-year-old black and white Boston Terrier, Bruschi, has just been given the Guinness World Record for "dog with the largest eyes" -- a whopping 1.1 inches in diameter.

So which does she think will have more signficance?

"Honestly, Bruschi's record," she told The Huffington Post, laughing. "I'm not sure I'm going to graduation. Maybe if I could bring him, but I don't think they allow animals."

Bruschi, who was named after former New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi, came into Reed's life three years ago when she found him while working at Operation Kindness, a no-kill shelter near Arlington, Texas.

"I had another Boston Terrier, but I saw him and he jumped up in my arms and wouldn't leave," she said.

Reed noticed Bruschi's huge peepers from the start, but wasn't sure they were record-breakers.

"The eyes are big on a Boston Terrier anyway, but when I'd bring him out in public, people would say, 'Wow, he has huge eyes,'" Reed said. "My vet joked a few months ago about submitting his photo to Guinness and I just went for it."

Reed found out about the world record on Wednesday at 2 a.m. after she got off work at a shoe store and she immediately told Bruschi, who she claims was happy about the eye-popping honor.

"He started barking," she said. "He shook his body. He can't shake his tail because it was broken and then set wrong."

Reed understands that there may be other dogs with larger eyes who someday take the record from Bruschi, but, doggone it, she is hoping to use his newfound celebrity for good.

"I'd like to raise awareness about Operation Kindness," she said. "I would also like to meet the world's largest dog and other dog record holders."
