Domino's Pizza Plans Restaurant On The Moon

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...that's amore.

Or it could be astronauts eating Domino's Pizza in space.

The public relations department at Domino's Pizza confirmed to The Huffington Post that the pizza corporation's Japanese arm has proposed a far-fetched plan to build a restaurant on the moon.

If it turns out being anything more than a publicity stunt, the lunar restaurant would carry a lofty price tag. The Telegraph published a breakdown of the predicted costs, which are estimated to amount to more than $21 billion:

"The company estimates the entire project will cost Y1.67 trillion -- some £13.4 billion -- of which Y560 billion (£4.5 billion) will be required to transport 70 tons of construction materials and pizza-making equipment to the moon aboard 15 rockets."

Building the restaurant seems to be a strike at Pizza Hut, which became the first chain to deliver pizza to space back in 2001.

An artist on the Domino's Japan website had some fun brainstorming what the pizzeria might look like, including a pretty imaginative "fun room" -- because what's the point of making pizza in space if you can't play zero-gravity darts while you're waiting for your pies?
