It's been less than a week since Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman escaped from a maximum-security prison, but the thought of him running free has already prompted Donald Trump to alert the FBI.
Trump, a real estate magnate and Republican presidential candidate who has accused Mexico of sending criminals to the U.S., took to Twitter to criticize U.S. border policies, immigration reform and the war on drugs after Guzman, head of the notorious Sinaloa Cartel, escaped.
When an unverified and unauthenticated Twitter handle with hundreds of thousands of followers purporting to be El Chapo responded with a threat, Trump called the FBI.
"Keep fucking around and I'm going to make you eat your fucking words," the tweet reads in part.
Sigue chingando y voy hacer que te tragues todas tus putas palabras pinche guero cagaleche @realDonaldTrump

Trump asked the FBI to investigate the threatening tweet on Monday, according to both TMZ and ABC News.
“I'm fighting for much more than myself," Trump said in a statement. "I'm fighting for the future of our country which is being overrun by criminals. You can't be intimidated. This is too important."
CLARIFICATION: This story has been updated to further emphasize that the Twitter account associated with Guzman is unofficial and unverified.
