Critics Shocked By Trump’s ‘Pretty Cruel’ Town Hall Quip About Abortion-Related Death

Former President Donald Trump faced backlash on Wednesday for what critics slammed as his “pretty cruel” remark following a comment about a Black woman who died from complications under Georgia’s restrictive abortion law.

At the start of Republican nominee Trump’s all-women town hall with Fox News’ Harris Faulkner in Georgia, Faulkner noted that the family of Amber Nicole Thurman — a 28-year-old mother who, according to a ProPublica investigation, died in a preventable incident in 2022 under the state’s tough abortion law ― was holding a press call as a prebuttal to the Trump event.

“Oh, that’s nice,” Trump said sarcastically, adding, “You’ll get better ratings, I promise.”

Faulkner smiled, and the audience lapped it up and laughed.

Fox News’ liberal commentator Jessica Tarlov called the comment “pretty cruel.” Trump could have used “the moment to say, ‘I’m so sorry that young woman lost her life,’” Tarlov said during Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Five.”

Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has warned of more deaths like Thurman’s if Trump wins back the White House. Trump has repeatedly boasted about appointing the U.S. Supreme Court justices who ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade. Trump’s quip to Faulkner was met with anger on social media:

Trump always talks about what he thinks is important. Women dying are not. His ratings are. Vote accordingly.

BREAKING: Trump brags about “getting better ratings” than the grieving family of Amber Thurman, who died after not receiving urgent care needed for an infection because of Georgia’s extreme abortion ban.

Trump is incapable of being a decent person.

If Fox had any moral compass, they should have ended the interview right then. But, they are all about ratings too …

It's funny because it's cruel?

The people laughing in the audience should be ashamed of themselves.

Appreciate him showing himself for the POS he is. It would seem grieving families only matter to him and MAGA when it suits their narrative. Vile people.
