If Donald Trump doesn’t stand up for the one percent, who will?
On the heels of the ruling that Tom Brady is (once again) suspended for his part in the 2015 Deflategate scandal, Trump took to the stage at a campaign rally on Monday to give a voice to rich, successful, good-looking men everywhere.
“First of all, let’s start by saying, leave Tom Brady alone! Leave him alone. Leave him alone. He’s a great guy. It’s enough. It’s enough!”
As we try to pull off the mental gymnastics needed to understand Trump’s random, daily assortment of likes and dislikes, we can all rest assured that the Brady-Trump bromance has been going steady for quite a while now. Although Brady has refused to say the words “I endorse Donald Trump,” he displayed a “Make America Great Again” cap in his locker last summer, then claimed it’d “be great” if The Donald won the White House and called him a “good friend.”
Trump, for his part, thanked Brady for helping him win big in Massachusetts on Super Tuesday, and has proven eager to remind voters of his ties to New England’s leading man.
In an election cycle in which the minority is supposedly being heard for the first time in a long time, what a relief it is to know that everyman Tom Brady hasn't been cast aside.
