Donald Trump On Paying For White House Tours: 'Why Not?' (VIDEO)

Donald Trump Wants To Pay For What!?

Real estate mogul Donald Trump offered on Monday to fund public tours of one of the nation's most famous pieces of real estate: the White House.

"It's always been open, it's not a lot of money," Trump said in an interview on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."

Amid backlash over news that the White House would stop offering tours of the building because of sequestration, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich suggested on Friday that Trump could come up with the money to fund the longstanding Washington tradition.

Trump called the former presidential candidate's proposal "reasonable."

"I think it's so nice of Newt to suggest that, I don't know anything about it," Trump said. "I like Newt a lot. I didn't hear this, but it sounds reasonable to me. Why not?"

Trump would need to shell out at least $74,000 a week, the amount it costs the Secret Service to secure the White House tour route, according to CNN.

Gingrich and Trump have traded praise this month. The former speaker expressed his admiration for Trump last week, declaring that he would consider going on the billionaire's popular reality television show, "Celebrity Apprentice."
