Photographer turned Infopreneur Nick Onken (host of NionRadio - formerly ShopTalk Radio - and NionTV). In one of his first NionTV episodes, Onken dug deep with Fashion legend Donna Karan to share her journey into the fashion industry and help other creative entrepreneurs take their creativity, business, and life to the next level.

Believe it or not, the woman behind the Donna Karan, DKNY, and UrbanZen brands didn’t intend to become a fashion designer. She loved drawing and sought to be an illustrator. As a teenager at a job interview, the interviewer didn’t like her drawings but thought she had talent for fashion design. With that, she ended up at Parsons School Of Design, accepting a summer job with Anne Klein. Having now made it into the fashion world, she didn’t return to school as was recommended by her new employer, only to be fired a few months later.

But her fashion career obviously didn’t end there. So how did she get to creating the Donna Karan fashion house and her most recent fashion and philanthropic project Urban Zen? She explains in her interview with Onken that much of it was unplanned and there were many ups and downs through her life, but credits her long time love and practice of Yoga, meditation, and connection to self and community as giving her the clarity of mind and inspiration to persist and create.
