Don't You Just Love People Who Love America?

My president doesn't love me. How sad! But forget, I'm just another citizen. The real tragedy here, I just learned, is that the president doesn't love Rudy Giuliani, a man who was an honest-to-God elected official.

I mean, how rare is that! Can we ever thank enough the red, white and blue patriots -- the true America-lovers -- like Rudy Giuliani for pointing the finger at those, like our president, who so clearly don't love it.

"I do not believe that the president loves America," Giuliani reportedly said at a private New York fundraiser for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who demonstrates his love for America by -- to name just a few of his nation-adoring acts -- rejecting health care funds for his state's citizens, making it harder for minorities to vote, and demolishing the collective bargaining rights of his state's public employees. And then Rudy added the part that so personalized it, I actually cried. "He doesn't love you. And he doesn't love me. He wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up, through love of this country."

My president doesn't love me. How sad! But forget me, I'm just another citizen. The real tragedy here, I just learned, is that the president doesn't love Rudy Giuliani, a man who was an honest-to-God elected official. How can our president not love a man who was a real life mayor -- and not just any mayor, but mayor of New York on 9/11. "You know, President Obama didn't live through September 11, I did," Rudy also said. "President Obama didn't almost have a building fall on him, myself and my police commissioner and my fire commissioner did."

Anyway, the president may use the English language better, but it's clear he wasn't brought up as well as Giuliani was brought up, through love of America. And I'm kind of ashamed to admit it, but I guess Rudy was brought up better than me, too. See, I can't really tell when someone doesn't love America. Unless I catch them stomping on a flag pin. Or on another American because he doesn't love America enough.
