Dr Pepper Falls Victim To Internet Death Hoax

A Facebook rumor claimed the company had sold its recipe to Coke and was shutting down.

Dr Pepper took to Twitter on Monday to crush a rumor that claimed the company had sold its famous 23-flavor formula to Coca-Cola, which was, in turn, shutting down production this summer.

The death hoax was quickly debunked by both Snopes and the company itself, which reassured its famously loyal fans with a tweet:

Dr Pepper, which has a history going back to 1885, calls itself "the oldest major soft drink in the United States."
