Dr. Seuss Quotes: 10 Memorable Quotes In Honor Of Dr. Seuss' Birthday And "The Lorax"

"I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues."

There are few quotes more memorable than this one from Dr. Seuss’ 1971 classic “The Lorax.” For over 40 years, this book has been reminding kids how important environmental issues are (and how adorable Barbaloots in Barbaloot suits can be). Today, on the same day that would have been Dr. Seuss’ 107th birthday, Universal’s animated version opens nationwide -- and is expected to bring a whole new generation of fans to the story.

The beauty of Seuss is that his books appeal to children and adults of all ages, but bring up issues that parents might not know how to talk about. Rebecca Woolf of Girl’s Gone Child, wrote about taking her two older children to the premiere of "The Lorax" movie even though they hadn’t read the book:

We should have read them the story before we saw the film as to brief them on what is and has always been, a very dark, upsetting story. Not that they were scared, just a little sad that "bad guys can be so bad" ... But in the car, on the way home, we discussed the film and what was happening and what it meant and how sometimes "bad guys" are just "lost guys. Or girls ... "

So to celebrate all things Seuss we’ve rounded up 10 memorable quotes from his books. What are your favorite Seuss-isms? Tweet @HuffPostParents with #SeussQuotes and let us know!
