Dream Expression Holds More Than You Know

I first began recording dreams and daily life in a diary given to me at age ten. By age fifteen I had recorded the first of many prophetic dreams. Much later when I was married with two young children I began to record my dreams more consistently, for a period of more than eight years resulting in more than fourteen dream journals, and a few other journals.

I had been aware that many of the dreams came true. After my divorce in 2001, I stopped recording my dreams and the journals were packed in boxes in the garage. Until last year, when I pulled them out and did an extensive review of over 2000 pages. It took several times of going through them all, and it was a challenging experience to basically relive that part of my life, but I learned many things. Not only did I find very long range dreams that came true, as long as 17 or 18 years after the dream, but I discovered an aspect of dream recording, that as of yet I have not heard of anyone else who teaches dreamwork describe in this way.

I came upon a couple of dreams that I realized the expression of the dream itself carried as much if not more information than the visual I remembered, and in this way it gave more information. I believe the way we choose to describe or relate our dreams is extremely personal to us, based on our own life experiences and belief system. A certain metaphor may have a very different meaning to us than to someone else.

One such example from a dream in 1994 that eventually came true in 2002 was that I was at an amusement park, and a man was walking on stilts and carrying my daughter on his back. I described the motion of the walking sticks that you had to hold on and step up to the next part. Which did not exactly match the visual that I saw. When the dream came to life in 2002, it was with a man I had become involved with, and we took my kids on a trip to Zion (before going to an amusement park -- Disneyland for my daughter's birthday). At Zion he purchased a walking stick for hiking while we were there, and he carried my daughter on his back to cross the river. My description had fit the use of the walking stick better than the visual of walking on stilts.

This is also a great illustration of a time when you have a dream that seems a little crazy at the time, yet in my case eight years later it played out very closely despite the blended images of our hiking trip and visit to Disneyland at the end of that trip. And this can show you that scenarios may be unusual, when in fact they are a blend of multiple events sandwiched into one dream.

While eight years is certainly a long time to wait for validation, when you get into a habit of recording your dreams, and have a library to periodically review, you can see and experience for yourself the greater reality that is happening right under your nose. Most times you won't have to wait this long! Many prophetic dreams can come true the same day, or in a very short time frame.
The value in this experience is your own knowledge first hand of the hidden nature of reality. I hope to make this my mission and be a dream evangelist, encouraging everyone to look into their dreams.

There are many ways to record your dreams. You can develop your own style that has the most meaning to you, whether it is in a drawing, or writing it down or even voice recording. I encourage everyone to write as much detail as they can remember, and if you have someone in your life interested in dreams as well, it can be valuable to verbally share dreams. Often times we can make more of a connection of the meaning of a dream by sharing it verbally when possible.

When I get a new dream that has come true, I make a copy and put it into a binder for easier access later. Looking through my true dream binder is a huge reminder of the greater reality that most people are sleepwalking through. I believe this is possible for everyone. Some of my skeptical friends have proved me right.

If you are new to dreamwork or interested in giving it a try, my book Sleeping With Spirit is geared towards beginners who are ready to investigate the rich world of dreams. Visit my website to download a sample chapter: http://www.kimtreffinger.net.
